Here's our story. We had the perfect house...in the wrong location. We actually started off in a 1,000 square foot house, which we later turned into a 2,1000 square foot beauty. Yes, we overbuilt for the area. 11 years later, we decided we wanted better schools for our kids, and a better/safer community for our family. So after almost a year of searching for the perfect home in our desired area, we realized...it doesn't exist! Ha! Our expectations were too high based on what we had before.
Our criteria was:
- Move in Ready (HAHAHAHA...it didn't happen)
- Good schools for the kids
- No corner lot (I Hated living in a corner house)
- Far enough away from a major street (We lived 1 block away from a major street)
- Not close to any schools (We lived across the street from a community college...no parking spots on the streets...most of the time)
- Safe community
So...we bought ourselves a not so pretty house in a great area. Our desired area! The area/street is just what we wanted, the house itself has a good layout with everything we wanted...just confused in style, a little stuck in time (THE KITCHEN...OMG), and the victim of some shoddy DIY projects. Hello previous owners! Overall, i'd call it a diamond in the rough...that's one helluva rough diamond!
I can understand why people think we're crazy for leaving behind a new house, but we knew what we were getting into. Or did we?...dum dum dum...only time will tell.
In the meantime, I will enjoy every second of updating and decorating this sucker! I can't promise i'll have time to make dinner though...but that's a whole 'nother story. This is where our Once Upon A Time begins...again...
